The Orlando Magic open preseason play Sunday in Miami, but their fan base is already trying to show Dwight Howard how much they don't want him to leave town.
About 9,000 fans went through the doors Saturday morning at Amway Center for free seats to an open Magic practice.
Inside, Howard's No. 12 jersey and signs urging him to remain in Orlando could be seen throughout the crowd, which showered him with cheers.
Howard has spent his entire NBA career in Orlando, but asked management to be traded shortly after the Magic opened training camp.
Magic general manager Otis Smith has since given Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, permission to discuss trades with Dallas, New Jersey and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Orlando opens the regular season Christmas night at Oklahoma City.
