Telethon prompts move of French Open to Channel 32
TAMPA - NBC coverage of the 2010 French Open tennis tournament on Sunday morning will be aired on WMOR, Channel 32. NBC affiliate WFLA, Channel 8, will be carrying the annual All Children's Hospital telethon from St. Petersburg on Sunday. WMOR-TV (TV32), an independent television station serving the Tampa-St. Petersburg television market, has agreed to take the men's finals (from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) of the French Open. "We value WMOR-TV as a broadcast partner and are happy they will be able to air this important event, live," says Cathy Helean, vice president of marketing for WFLA-TV, The Tampa Tribune and TBO.com."We're very excited about the opportunity to carry the men's final and work with WFLA in making certain the Tampa Bay community is able to watch this great sporting event," notes TV32 President and General Manager Ken Lucas. In the past, TV32, has aired Tampa Bay Rays games, Tampa Bay Bucs pre-season games, as well as college sports.
