Ex-Seminole Floyd: UF Not Unbeatable
Former Florida State running back William Floyd (1991-93), now an analyst with FSU's radio broadcast team, talks about the Seminoles-Gators rivalry with staff writer Joey Johnston. How much talk have you heard about Florida and its chance to win the national championship? How much have you heard about the Florida-Alabama game? Well, that's all I've been hearing. The Gators do have another game before that, you know? I really think Florida State is going to put up a great battle. The Gators say they aren't looking past us, but I think that Alabama game is pretty high in the minds of most. Hopefully, we can use it as a motivating factor. What do the Seminoles need to do? Exactly what they did at Maryland FSU won 37-3. Same game plan. Control the clock and keep Florida's offense off the field. They can't score without the ball. If we stick to our guns, they might get frustrated. When I played, we were dominant, almost unstoppable. We lost to Florida just one time in four years. Believe me, I love bringing that up to the Gators I know. Nobody can ever take that away. Now the momentum has turned the other way. But it can't last forever. If we can pull this one off, it would rank up there with the greatest moments in FSU history. The Gators have a great team, but they're not unbeatable. Don't forget, they've already been beaten - by Ole Miss.
