Opening Day.It's the culmination of months of anticipation, the chance to look ahead with unbridled optimism. Well, at least for nine innings. Opening Day is an unofficial holiday for baseball fans everywhere. The slate is clean. The past is forgotten. Nowhere more so than here. The Rays open their 11th season this afternoon in Baltimore, the start of a new era that features growing excitement. And rightfully so. Granted, a lot has to go their way for the Rays to make the franchise's first serious run at .500. But the Rays have the cornerstones of a not-too-distant contender, which should make this club a lot of fun to watch. Starting today. Yes, Opening Day is here. Finally. Let us play.
