Rowdies, Edmonton play to scoreless draw
Coming off their upset win against MLS’ Seattle Sounders in the U.S. Open Cup, the Tampa Bay Rowdies returned to NASL play Sunday and came away with a 0-0 draw against host FC Edmonton at Clarke Stadium.
Tampa Bay (3-2-3) played a man up for the final 30 minutes but was unable to break through and settled for its second tie against Edmonton in less than a month.
Rowdies goalie Diego Restrepo recorded his second straight clean sheet, the first coming in Wednesday’s 1-0 win against Seattle in the U.S. Open Cup.
The Rowdies, unbeaten against Edmonton in the past eight matches, return to action at 7 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Cary, N.C., to face the Carolina RailHawks.
