There is a price for an autograph from David Price. And from Evan Longoria and Wil Myers, too.
Fans attending next month’s Tampa Bay Rays Fan Fest at Tropicana Field will have to pay $125 each for autographs from Price, Longoria and Myers.
Fans will pay $25 each for autographs from 11 other players on the big league roster while the remaining players and coaches will sign for free.
A limit of 60 passes will be sold for those players to guarantee that each fan in line will receive an autograph.
The proceeds will be donated to ALS Association Florida Chapter and the Rays Foundation.
Passes must be purchased in advance at raysbaseball.com. They go on sale at 4 p.m. Friday. There are pre-sale opportunities for Rays Season Ticket Holders and Flex Pack buyers.
Pass will not be sold at Fan Fest, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 22.
“Fan Fest is a great way for the Rays to reconnect with our fans and celebrate the beginning of the baseball season,” Rays president Matt Silverman said. “Each year we look to add greater interactions between our players and fans, and this year we will be high-fiving kids as they run the bases, participating in coaches clinics, taking photos with fans, and even serving ice cream, all of which are free. The paid autograph signings benefit charity and are a minor component to the event. We are selling certain players’ autographs in advance to ensure that fans can receive them without having to endure a prolonged wait.”
Tickets for Joe Maddon’s Thanksmas dinner at FanFest go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday at raysbaseball.com.
Fans paid $50 last season for wrist bands that allowed them to wait in line for autographs from all the players. But the demand for a number of the players was so great that not everyone received an autograph and those who waited in line the longest missed out on receiving autographs from other players.
For $25 fans can purchases passes to receive autographs from Ben Zobrist, Desmond Jennings, Matt Joyce, David DeJesus, Alex Cobb, Chris Archer, Yunel Escobar, James Loney, Matt Moore, Jeremy Hellickson and Grant Balfour.
There will also be a free autograph table for kids 14 and under and any fan who purchased at least one autograph pass.
More than 25 former big league players will sign autographs for free throughout the day.
Admission and parking is free.
