Rays turn back the clock Sunday vs. Cubs

Published:   |   Updated: August 8, 2014 at 06:28 AM

As part of Wrigley Field’s 100th anniversary celebration, the Cubs will turn back the clock Sunday and wear the franchise’s 1988 jerseys. The Rays will wear a road version of their turn-back-the-clock jersey.

Why 1988? The Cubs finished fourth that year, 20 games behind the Mets, but the pitching staff included rookie of the year Greg Maddux, who was recently inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Also, the Cubs were managed by Don Zimmer.
