The new Omaha
Rays manager Joe Maddon said the team is working on a way for players to send a signal to the dugout if they think a play should be reviewed. In a nod to Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's use of the word “Omaha” to call audibles at the line of scrimmage, Maddon wants his players to yell “Wichita.” “I just think Omaha and Wichita, in a perverse way, rhyme,” Maddon said.
The “If you hear any noise it's just me and the boys boppin' ” T-shirts that 3B Evan Longoria brought for his teammates is a nod to Dave Parker, who had the shirt made during the 1976 season after the Pittsburgh Pirates lost two games in a row to the rival Philadelphia Phillies.
