Rays, Red Sox wear 42 for early Patriots Day start
Players, managers and coaches for the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox wore jersey number 42 Monday in honor of Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball's color barrier on April 15, 1947.
The game got an early start – 11:05 a.m. – for Massachusetts' annual Patriots Day holiday.
Boston won the game 3-2 on a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth. Tampa Bay played Boston on Patriots Day for the third time in four years.
