Tampa Bay Rays LHP Matt Moore said he will undergo X-rays on his jaw Monday to determine if he suffered any small fractures after being struck in the mouth Sunday by a line drive against the Boston Red Sox.
“I’m fine,” he said. “Just a fat lip.”
Rays RHP Alex Cobb, who missed two months last season after suffering a concussion when struck on the right side of his head, said he texted, “Welcome to the club,” to Moore on Sunday.
“He was a man,” Cobb said. “Finished the play. Showed me up.”
Rays manager Joe Maddon said he doesn’t expect Moore to miss any time providing tests do not show any damage.
