ST. PETERSBURG – The Rays activated right fielder Wil Myers today from the disabled list and optioned infielder Vince Belnome back to Triple A Durham.
Myers hasn’t played since May 30 when he suffered a right wrist fracture after colliding with center fielder Desmond Jennings while trying to catch a line drive against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Myers was hitting .227 at the time with a .313 on-base percentage and a .354 slugging percentage. He had 25 RBI and five home runs, four of which were against the Yankees.
Myers, who played two games in left field during his minor league rehab assignment with the Bulls, will see time in that position with the Rays as well. He will also share time in right field with Kevin Kiermaier.
Myers hit .250 in seven games at Durham. He had a .419 on-base percentage and a .542 slugging percentage. He also drove in six runs and hit two home runs.
