$2 tickets for kids at Rays game tonight
The Tampa Bay Rays will try to close out their best month ever tonight, and for $2 kids can watch live at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The Rays, who have gone 21-4 in July to surge into first place in the American League East, host the Arizona Diamondbacks on "$2 Kids Night." Up to three children, ages 2 to 14, get in for $2 if accompanied by an adult buying a regular full-priced ticket, starting at $12. The promotion covers several areas of the stadium, including Lower Reserved, Press Level Reserved, Baseline Box, Upper Reserved and Party Deck.For details, go to raysbaseball.com or call 1-888-FAN-RAYS. Also, cars with four or more passengers will get free parking at Tropicana Field lots. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. The Rays, who lead the Boston Red Sox by a half-game in the AL East, will start right-hander Jeremy Hellickson (10-3, 4.48 ERA). Tampa Bay has won Hellickson's last seven starts, during which he's gone 6-0 with a 2.09 ERA. Arizona will counter with left-hander Wade Miley. The Rays have won 11 of their last 12 against left-handed starters, but Miley is 3-1 with a 1.89 ERA in five July starts. The Rays defeated the National League's Diamondbacks, 5-2, on Tuesday night, improving to 10-1 in interleague play this season.
