ZEPHYRHILLS — Jaylen Pickett scored three touchdowns as Zephyrhills, the fourth-ranked team in the Tribune’s most recent Pasco County poll, crushed Wesley Chapel.
Pickett rushed for 75 yards and two scores in the first half, leading the Bulldogs to a 21-9 lead at the break.
Lorine Parker ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on seven carries as Zephyrhills dominated on the ground en route to its fourth consecutive victory over the Wildcats.
The Bulldogs rushed for 373 yards, including 248 in the first half, with four different players running for at least 50 yards.
Zephyrhills blocked two second-half punts, with Pickett recovering the first one in the end zone for his third score of the night, and the Bulldogs forced three turnovers, with Zach Bedley returning an interception 11 yards for a score late in the third quarter.
A 40-yard field goal by Zach Gleaton capped the scoring for Zephyrhills and started a running clock that lasted the final 6:11 of the contest.
