Zephyrhills cruises past Central, 70-21

BROOKSVILLE — Even with starting quarterback Ty Tanner out with a collarbone injury and a revolving door under center, Zephyrhills High had no problems putting up points on Thursday.

The Bulldogs spoiled Brooksville-Central’s homecoming with a 70-21 victory.

Jaylen Pickett carried 16 times for 116 yards and scored four touchdowns, three on runs and one on a 14-yard fumble recovery.

Devon Brockington, who took some snaps, scored five touchdowns — on runs of 22 and 43 yards, receptions of 44 and 43 yards from Justin Swanstrom, and a 64-yard kickoff return.

Jordan Roberts opened the scoring for the Bulldogs (6-1, 3-1 Class 5A-District 6) with a 17-yard run, after the Bears (0-8, 0-4) took a 7-0 lead on a 58-yard run by Robbie Bradley.
