WESLEY CHAPEL — The Wiregrass Ranch High girls tennis team advanced to the Class 3A-Region 5 final with a 4-2 win against Largo on Monday.

Leading 3-2, the Bulls (13-1) got the winning point when Precious Okungbowa and Marissa Hoffman won at No. 2 doubles.

Okungbowa got Wiregrass on the board by winning at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Hoffman won at No. 4, while Julia Candaleria won at No. 5, rallying for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory.

“That was a crucial point for us and for Julia to really pull through for us got us the win,” Bulls coach Jewell Fye said. “Usually when it comes down to the doubles matches, it is close. But it’s a good win for us and we look to continue winning.”

Wiregrass will play either Venice or Land O’ Lakes in the region final.
