Volleyball: Pasco regional semifinals preview

All matches Tuesday, 7 p.m.

Class 6A-Region 3

WHO: Seminole Osceola (13-9) at Mitchell (23-5)

WHERE: 2323 Little Road, Trinity

NEED TO KNOW: The Mustangs have won 19 straight games, including the 6A-District 10 title against the Warriors. Mitchell is meeting Osceola for the fourth time this season and is 3-0, yet the two regular-season matches went to five games. The Mustangs are led by senior Daniele Green, who has 302 kills and leads the team in digs, as well. Kayla Widera and Baily Sassatelli are the team's two top blockers, while setter Shayna Filippelli leads the team in assists. The Warriors' Kayla Chowdhury (125 kills) will be looking to continue the momentum it found by upsetting King on the road. The winner will face the winner of Naples Barron Collier and Venice.

Class 5A-Region 2

WHO: Anclote (22-7) at Fivay (23-6)

WHERE: 12115 Chicago Ave., Hudson

NEED TO KNOW: The Sharks are looking for the program's first region final berth, while the Falcons are looking to return for the second straight season. The 5A-8 foes are meeting for the third time this season, with Fivay winning the first two matches, including sweeping the district title game. The Sharks are led by their three top players: Aaliyah Anderson (262 kills, 318 digs), Marissa Niedermeyer (244 kills) and Mia Lockhart (224 kills, 261 digs). The Falcons, winners of eight straight, are led by the Nemetz twin sisters, Ashleigh (247 kills) and Briannah (231 kills), and Jordyn Mattos (64 aces) and Courtney Coast (352 digs). The winner of this match will face the winner of Gainesville Eastside and Belleview.

Class 3A-Region 2

WHO: Bishop McLaughlin (18-6) at Tampa Prep (15-10)

WHERE: 727 W Cass St., Tampa

NEED TO KNOW: The Hurricanes are hoping third time's the charm after losing twice to the Terrapins this season, including in the district title game. Bishop's big hitters — Alyssa Mathis and Aileen Hnatiuk — will have to be on the top of their game to get past Kamyrn Beach (55 blocks) and Rachel Carr (44 blocks). Corey Perkins (213 kills) is Prep's big hitter up front. The winner of this match will face Orlando First Academy and Maitland Orangewood Christian.
