Tuesday’s Prep news and notes

Tampa Prep senior swimmer Rasmus Skjaerpe verbally committed to the University of Arizona, Terrapins athletic director Mike Flynn announced Monday.

Skjaerpe is a two-time Tribune Hillsborough County boys swimmer of the year and holds seven school records. The Norwegian National Team member captured a state championship in the 200-meter freestyle and also finished runner up in the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter butterfly.

This past summer, Skjaerpe spent 10 days in Arizona training with the Norwegian National senior team and could qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics.


Countryside senior Madison Glennie was named an HP Scholastic Junior All-American, the American Junior Golf Association and HP recently announced.

Glennie, who scored a 33 on the ACT and carries a 4.558 weighted grade-point average, is captain of Countryside’s golf team and is a Board Teen Member of the Greater Tampa Junior Golf Association. Glennie has posted four top-15 AJGA finishes in five starts this year.
