James Flint, Brandon
WHY WE CHOSE HIM: The senior won his fourth state title at the FHSAA wrestling championships last week and finished the season undefeated at 33-0. In addition, Brandon won its 14th consecutive state crown. The individual state title was extremely satisfying for Flint after finishing as a state runner-up last year and suffering a torn meniscus on the first day of practice this season.
COLLEGE PLANS: The two-time National High School Coaches Association All-American, two-time Fargo Greco-Roman All-American, 2012 Fila Cadet Greco-Roman National Champion and 2012 Fila Cadet Greco-Roman World Team Member signed to wrestle at Lindsey Wilson, an NAIA program in Kentucky.
Emily Small, Tampa Catholic
WHY WE CHOSE HER: In a 20-2 district victory against Berkeley Prep, the junior nearly hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with a single, double and two home runs — a grand slam and a three-run homer. Small had 10 RBIs and three runs scored. Two days before her career day, Small went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in a district win over Sarasota Booker
COLLEGE PLANS: She has an offer to walk on at Samford and would like to pursue a degree in medical sciences.
