Evan Holland, Bayshore Christian
WHY WE CHOSE HIM: In leading the Faith Warriors to their first baseball district championship, Holland, a junior, came in as a relief pitcher in the first inning and went the distance, striking out five while giving up two earned runs in an 8-7 win against Cambridge Christian in the Class 2A-District 7 championship. Holland, typically the team’s shortstop, drew three walks at the plate and scored three runs in the win, along with a double and stolen base.
COLLEGE PLANS: Holland has scholarship offers from the University of Tampa, Florida Gulf Coast University and Manhattan.

WHY WE CHOSE HER: With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Bell, a senior outfielder, blasted a three-run, walk-off home run to give the Cougars a 9-8 win against Steinbrenner in the Class 7A-Region 2 quarterfinals. Entering Tuesday’s region semifinals, Bell led Durant with 34 hits and 44 RBIs, including five home runs.
COLLEGE PLANS: Bell has signed to play at Hillsborough Community College. After HCC, Bell plans to transfer to a four-year school to study nursing.
