Tampa Catholic prospect Craig chooses Auburn

Though he has two more years of high school football to play, Tampa Catholic junior receiver Nate Craig announced Monday night where he’ll spend his college years.

Craig, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver, announced via Twitter he has verbally committed to Auburn, choosing the Tigers over offers from others that included Ohio State and defending national champion Florida State.

“I will be taking my talents to Auburn University” the tweet read, which included a picture of an Auburn football game.

Craig transferred to Tampa Catholic from Pasco High in January. In two seasons with Pasco, Craig had 37 catches for 502 yards and 12 touchdowns. Craig has already received an invitation to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-American game.

Meanwhile, East Bay senior defensive lineman Marques Ford has verbally committed to Tennessee. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end announced his decision on Twitter on Saturday.

As a junior, Ford had 67 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks for the Indians, who won their first playoff game in school history and captured the program’s first district title in 40 years.
