Unexpected repairs to Robinson High School’s football stadium has forced the Knights to move their Sept. 5 game against rival Plant to the Panthers’ stadium.
The Hillsborough County school district shut down use of the bleachers at Robinson’s Jack Peters Field until repairs are made.
District spokesman Stephen Hegarty said Wednesday there are issues with seating at the stadium, and structures underneath the stands may need to be replaced.
Hegarty said the district bi-annually conducts inspections at its 27 public high schools, but repairs to Robinson’s seats came unexpectedly.
Robinson’s second scheduled home game is Sept. 19 against Armwood.
Parents at the school have expressed concern over loss of needed revenue from parking and concessions for any relocated games. Unexpected travel arrangements must also be made for team, band and cheerleaders.
