SEMINOLE — In its final tune-up prior to next week’s all-important district battle against Bradenton Manatee, St. Petersburg’s multifaceted rushing attack took center stage. None of the Green Devils’ talented backs disappointed.
Deangelo Reaves gained 164 of his team’s 302 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns as St. Petersburg earned a tougher-than-expected 35-7 victory against Seminole (1-6) on Friday night.
“I’m pleased any time we get a win and the kids did a good job of staying focused on this game and not looking ahead to (Manatee),” said St. Petersburg coach Joe Fabrizio. “Deangelo can run it for sure, but we’ve got a lot of guys who can run it.”
The Green Devils (5-1) led 7-0 before Reaves took over in the second quarter. His first carry was good for 60 yards and a 14-0 lead, while his 12-yard burst and 45-yard reception from Robert Tribolet put the game away early in the second half.
Ra’Quanne Dickens gained 188 rushing yards to help the Warhawks, but they didn’t score until Aaron Dever’s 10-yard pass to Ethan Roberts on the game’s final play.
