ST. PETERSBURG — Tony Jones and Jaquan Fuller each scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to lead St. Petersburg Catholic to a victory against Lennard.
Fuller, a junior running back and defensive back, rushed for 116 yards and had a 60-yard kick return.
After Lennard fumbled on the second play from scrimmage, St. Pete Catholic took over on Lennard’s 40-yard line and used a five-play drive that culminated in Jones’ 1-yard touchdown run for the opening score.
Fuller then took an end-around 22 yards for a touchdown that made it 14-7.
Lennard tied the game at 7 when quarterback Diontae Johnson found receiver Tre Jones, who broke free from the defense on a 49-yard touchdown.
With the score 28-7 in the third quarter, Lennard scored 16 unanswered points behind Johnson’s 4-yard touchdown run, a safety and Danny Cooper’s 60-yard punt return touchdown.
St. Pete Catholic put the game away on Jones’ 1-yard touchdown run late in the fourth. Tony Jones finished with 80 yards rushing .
