TAMPA — A message for area coaches: Be afraid of Ray Ray McCloud III this season. Be very afraid. McCloud did all the scoring to lead Sickles past Tampa Catholic. The junior rushed for three touchdowns and returned a punt and kickoff for scores. McCloud rushed for 218 yards on 26 carries. McCloud gave the hosts a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a zig-zag run for a 21-yard score. Early in the second half, McCloud gathered a punt around mid-field and took it down the sideline to put Sickles up 14-0. The visitors answered with a 30-yard pass from Kyle Ploucher to Isaiah Osby.
McCloud scored on Sickles’ next series with an 18-yard run, but Ploucher answered with a 5-yard pass to Trajan Herr. On the next play, McCloud took the Crusaders’ kickoff back 90 yards to give Sickles a 27-14 lead. Ben Reed ran for a 73-yard TD, but McCloud finished off the scoring with an 8-yard run.
