TAMPA — The Sickles players feel like they have the best rushing duo in the county.
During the first two quarters Friday night, that talent were on full display.
Quarterback Isaac Holder and running back Ray Ray McCloud III each ran for a pair of scores to open an insurmountable lead against Robinson.
The third score of the game came as Holder ran a draw, leading the Knights defense to close in on him, and he flipped the ball to McCloud.
Once the senior running back was in the open field, he juked five defenders, two on a spin move that enabled him to finish the play for a 51-yard touchdown.
“Me and Issac feel like we are the best in the county, maybe even the state,” Gryphons running back McCloud said. “With him running the ball like that, it helps put me in open space better. It’s going to be a fun year.”
McCloud finished with 177 yards on 15 carries, while Holder finished with 12 runs for 109 yards.
The Knights had two passing touchdowns from quarterback Malik Tyson to Jahrvis Davenport called back because of penalties, but the duo finally capitalized on a scoring play from 8 yards out just before halftime.
