SEFFNER CHR. 14
NORTHSIDE CHR. 0
TAMPA — Friday night’s pairing of Seffner Christian and Northside Christian opened with as big of an offensive bang that Seffner Christian fans could hope for. On the first play from scrimmage, Seffner Christian running back Marcus Richardson ran 65 yards untouched up the middle for a Crusaders’ touchdown.
Later in the second quarter, the Crusaders would find themselves in good field position courtesy of their stingy defense stopping a Mustangs’ fourth-down attempt. Richardson would find the end zone once again, running the ball behind the right guard from 2 yards out.
Both teams seemed to put an emphasis on clock management, but the stout defenses prevented many long drives from developing.
The Northside Christian Mustangs struggled to move the ball all night, but the strong arm of quarterback Griffin Alstott and speed of their receiving corps provides promise against weaker defenses.
On a night that saw a combined 39 flags fly, the only thing more consistent was the pressure from Seffner Christian’s front seven, which provided more than 10 quarterback pressures in each half.
