OUTLOOK: Look for Newsome-Wharton and Plant-Bloomingdale matchups in the semifinals. Plant has been playing consistently all season and is getting better every match. Wharton will need a solid match from seniors Leah Chisolm and Ashni Deschenes to compete with a Newsome team that beat the Wildcats 5-1 in the regular season. Freshman forward Lindsey Eaton and freshman sweeper Taylor McNeff lead the way for the Wolves. Newsome's postseason success could hinge on how senior Taylor DeCaire (two-time first-team Tribune All-Hillsborough County pick) returns after an injury-plagued season.
Class 4A-8 at Steinbrenner

Wednesday: (1) Wiregrass Ranch vs. Freedom-Sickles winner, 6 p.m.; (2) Steinbrenner vs. Gaither-Chamberlain winner, 8 p.m.
Friday: Semifinal winners, 7 p.m.
OUTLOOK: The top two seeds are the favorites to reach the final. Wiregrass Ranch topped Steinbrenner 3-2 in the regular season. The Bulls have a strong attack led by senior forwards Berlin Waters (17 goals) and Aneza Blount (15 goals, 11 assists), and a strong goalkeeper in Dayton Wetherby. Steinbrenner has won nine straight since losing to the Bulls. Senior Alexis Bredeau leads a fast and deep attack with a Hillsborough County-leading 30 goals, but Steinbrenner also has double-digit goal scorers in Danielle Eule, Jessica Taylor and Danielle Darius. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Hirsch anchors the Warriors' stout defense.
Class 4A-9 at Strawberry Crest
Tuesday: (2) East Bay vs. (7) Armwood, 4 p.m.; (3) Strawberry Crest vs. (6) Tampa Bay Tech, 6 p.m.; (4) Hillsborough vs. (5) Brandon, 8 p.m.; Wednesday: Strawberry Crest-TBT winner vs. East Bay-Armwood winner, 5 p.m.; (1) Plant City vs. Hillsborough-Brandon winner, 7 p.m.; Friday: Semifinal winners, 7 p.m.
OUTLOOK: Top seeds Plant City and East Bay had little trouble with the rest of the group during the regular season, with both going 5-0-1. The teams played to a scoreless draw in their matchup. The Raiders have a solid junior class, including leading scorer Ericka Lott (24 goals) and Stephanie Galloway, as well as a solid leader in versatile senior Kellee Brown. The Indians have a strong duo at forward in senior Kalynne Heyer (15 goals, 11 assists) and junior Michelle Rodriguez (10 goals, 11 assists), and have 18 players with at least one goal this season.
Class 3A-9 at King
SCHEDULE Tuesday: (1) Robinson vs. (8) Middleton, 6 p.m.; (2) King vs. (7) Spoto, 8 p.m.
Wednesday: (4) Jefferson vs. (5) Leto, 6 p.m.; (3) Lennard vs. (6) Blake, 8 p.m.
Thursday: Robinson-Middleton winner vs. Jefferson-Leto winner, 6 p.m.; Lennard-Blake winner vs. King-Spoto winner, 8 p.m.
Friday: Semifinal winners, 8 p.m.
OUTLOOK: Robinson, which captured the program's first district crown last season, has a solid defense led by seniors Ruth Seleznik and Jessica Prescott, who helped the Knights to a 50-15 scoring advantage against the rest of the district this season. The Knights' offense is keyed by junior midfielders Caroline King and Claire Rothschild. King gave Robinson its only real challenge in district play, taking a one-goal lead deep into the match before the Knights stormed back for a 3-1 win.
Class 2A-9 at Clearwater CC
SCHEDULE Tuesday: (4) Holy Names vs. (5) Tampa Catholic, 7 p.m.
Wednesday: (1) St. Petersburg Catholic vs. AHN-TC winner, 5 p.m.; (2) CCC vs. (3) Berkeley Prep, 7 p.m.
Friday: Semifinal winners, 7 p.m.
OUTLOOK: St. Petersburg Catholic dominated during the regular season, finishing 14-2 behind senior Meggie-Dougherty Howard and sophomore Brooke Coughlin. The best game could be the semifinal between Clearwater Central Catholic and Berkeley Prep. The Buccaneers have struggled at times and will need a solid game to get through CCC (which beat Berkeley 3-0 during the regular season) and reach the region tournament.
Class 1A-7 at Calvary Christian

Friday: Semifinal winners, 7 p.m. Note: Semifinals and final will be held at Calvary Christian.
OUTLOOK: A young Tampa Prep squad looks to add its seventh straight district title trophy to the case. It took a while for Tampa Prep to get to full strength this year, but the Terps are there now. Darla Harrison (16 goals) and Alexandra Daley (13 goals) lead the attack, while senior goalkeeper Carly Reiner anchors the defense.
