Teams to watch
Mitchell: With eight players returning from last year’s sixth-place finisher in Class 2A, coach Rick Hyatt’s Mustangs are primed to repeat an undefeated regular season.
Saddlebrook: After finishing tied for fourth in Class 1A, the Spartans return four of their top five starters and are also primed to make another push for a state title. Led by mostly underclassmen, Saddlebrook should have a clear path through district and regions.
Wiregrass Ranch: With seven seniors on the squad, the Bulls return experience and leadership they’ll need to compete in the deep Class 3A-District 10 with the likes of King, Freedom and then Plant and Gaither in regions.
Land O’ Lakes/Sunlake/Wesley Chapel: The Gators, Seahawks and Wildcats are led by experienced golfers, which they’ll both need to hang with the deep and talent Jesuit squad that’s a perennial district title winner.

Donnie Gabrelcik, Sr., Mitchell: The Sunshine Athletic Conference Boys Golfer of the Year should be the Mustangs top golfer, but finished third on the team at states (163).
Anthony Swinford, Sr., Mitchell: Shot a second-day 77 at states to help the Mustangs to a sixth-place finish.
Mike Spinger, Jr., Mitchell: Was the Mustangs top golfer at states, shooting a two-day 158 (+14).
Jake Roberts, Sr., Sunlake: Finished tied 34th (+20) individually at the Class 2A state tourney.
Ryoto Furuya, Jr., Saddlebrook: Saddlebrook’s top player led the team with a 73-69-142 at the state tourney.
Lawrence Cai, Jr., Land O’ Lakes: Led the Gators with a 85 at districts.
Garrett Dixon, Sr., Pasco: The Pirates top returning golfer shot an 89 at districts.
Michael Stewart, River Ridge: Shot a team-best 77 at districts to secure the Royal Knights a regional berth.
Zach Lemmens, Jr., Wesley Chapel: Led the Wildcats with a 78 and a second-place finish at districts.
Stephen Pollock, Sr., Zephyrhills: Led the Bulldogs with a 79 at districts.
Ryan Gibson, Sr., Gulf: The Buccaneers top returning golfer shot an 82 at districts for a third-place team finish.
Ian Edwards, Sr., Wiregrass Ranch: Top returner for the Bulls; shot a 100 at districts in 2013.
Vijay Prasad, Jr., Academy at the Lakes: The Wildcats top returner shot an 87 at districts.
Teams to watch
Mitchell: The Mustangs qualified for the state tournament and finished 10th. Mitchell returns four of its five top golfers and is under the guidance of Scott Schmitz, once again.
Wiregrass Ranch: The Bulls, a region qualifier in 2013, return all their top golfers, including three seniors. Wiregrass faces stiff competition in Class 3A-District 10.
Land O’ Lakes: Following the team’s 15th-place finish at the Class 2A state tournament, the Gators return three of their top five golfers, plus bring in new talent.
Fivay: The Falcons return four of their top five golfers and should be favored to defend the Class 2A-District 13 title.
Players to watch
Kelly Harris, Jr., Sunlake: The Sunshine Athletic Conference Girls Golfer of the Year finished tied for 46th (+32) at the Class 2A individual state tourney.
Shyanne Dove, Jr., Mitchell: Shot a two-day 179, including a second-day 86, to lead the Mustangs to a 10th-place finish at states.
Lindsey Ritchey, Sr., Mitchell: Finished second on the team with a 184 at the 2A state tourney.
Mackenzie Bennett, Jr., Mitchell: Should be the team’s No. 3 golfer after shooting a 191 at the 2A state tourney.
Danielle Bahr, Sr., Zephyrhills: Vastly improved on the district champ Bulldogs, in which she contributed with a 101.
Casey Fenton, Fr., Bishop McLaughlin: A promising young player whose father is a former professional will have to step up in the absence of Brooke Dalton.
Remlee Horrigan, Sr., Wiregrass Ranch: Shot a team-best 93 to help the Bulls qualify for regions.
Dana Mumaw, So., Wesley Chapel: The Wildcats top returner shot a team-best 113 for a fourth-place finish at districts.
Lauren Mariano, Sr., Fivay: The Falcons top returner (103 at districts) takes over at the No. 1 spot to defend the team’s district title.
Estefania Guizar, So., Land O’ Lakes: The Gators top returner led the team with a two-day 200 and to a 15th-place finish at states.
