With 28.6 seconds left in the game against Riverview, Lennard junior Elis nailed a 37-yard field goal to give the Longhorns a 10-7 lead and eventual win against Riverview in the spring jamboree held at Longhorn Stadium.
With 1:47 left, Lennard’s Brian Nelson intercepted a pass at the Riverview 27. Three plays later, Shaw cleared the field goal by a few feet.
Junior running back Darron Daniel finished with 101 yards on the ground, including a 5-yard touchdown. Riverview’s Jaylin Vereen scored on a 29-yard touchdown to give the Sharks a 7-0 lead.
In the first jamboree of the night, East Bay defeated Spoto, 20-0. Chris Greene, Devin Hart and Jude Holston scored rushing touchdowns for the Indians on plays of 10, 11 and 10 yards. The Indians’ defense limited Spoto to one first down.
SEFFNER Host Armwood scored touchdowns a minute apart twice in a 34-0 victory against Strawberry Crest in the second half of a four-team jamboree Thursday.
Aaron Covington and Jordan Griffin each had two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown for the Hawks. Greg Newton and Craig Carrington added scoring runs of 13 and 2 yards, and Noah Johnson tossed a 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Gallon.
In the first matchup, Plant City defensive back Sawyer Dawson set up a touchdown with a blocked punt and scored another on a 73-yard interception return to cap a 23-0 win against crosstown rival Durant.
The Raiders struck first on a 14-yard run by Hassan Bailey. Moments later, defensive end John Broome forced a punt with his second sack in a span of seven Durant snaps. Dawson blocked the kick, and Patrick Colleran returned the loose ball to the end zone.
Jorge Navarrete made it 16-0 with a 30-yard field goal early in the second quarter, and Dawson finished off the Cougars with his long return with 3:52 remaining.
