CLEARWATER — Pinellas Park's “Three-Headed Monster” may never have been better.
The trio of Donte Maxson, Kal-el Williams and Pierre Johnson combined for 326 yards on 13 carries in preparation for next week's showdown at co-district leader East Lake by blasting Clearwater.
“One of the things we've done is approach every game like it's the Super Bowl, and (Friday) was no different,” said Pinellas Park coach Kenneth Crawford. “We've got some fast, big, young backs who can tote the ball, and we're excited about all of them.”
Maxson, who had 147 yards on four first-half carries, scored the first of his three touchdowns on the team's fourth play, a 4-yard burst.
The Patriots are 7-0 for the first time since 1983.
Maxson added touchdowns of 45 and 72 yards, while quarterback Angel Addison completed a 24-yard scoring pass to Marcellus Ware. None of the Patriots' five first-half scoring drives needed more than four plays, and Pinellas Park held a 463-123 advantage in total yards.
Treco Miller was one of the few bright spots for Clearwater (0-7, 0-3), gaining 84 yards on 11 carries, including a 64-yard scoring run.
