PINELLAS PARK — The Pinellas Park Patriots improved to 5-0 as their rushing attack silenced Dixie Hollins, 35-21.
Five rushing touchdowns and 409 yards sealed the deal for the Patriots on their homecoming night.
The Patriots’ game plan was as simple as it sounds; feed the ball to senior Pierre Johnson off tackle, pound it up the middle with juniors Donte Maxson and Kel-el Williams, and maybe throw in some misdirection plays. As straightforward as it is, no team has been able to stop it.
Pinellas Park had 258 yards rushing in the first half. Dixie quarterback Tyrie Adams felt the pressure as the Patriots held the Rebels to 35 yards rushing in the game.
Adams finished with 28 completions on 39 attempts, with 169 yards and two touchdowns. The Rebels turned the ball over five times, allowing the Patriots to chew up time and yardage.
Despite the Patriots’ 105 penalty-yards, Johnson (94 yards, two touchdowns) and Maxson (168 yards, two touchdowns) were able to make up the difference with their legs.
