To preview the 2013 high school football season, The Tampa Tribune is counting down the top 5 teams in Pasco County. These preseason rankings were voted on by by Tribune corresponddents Mike Camunas, Chris Errington, Kyle LoJacono, Bart O’ Connell, Kenny Sanders and Andy Villamarzo. The Seahawks, once again, went 8-2 and missed the playoffs. Once again, Sunlake must fill vital roles on both offense and defense. But, since coach Bill Browning started this program, he’s done nothing but produce impressive teams and get the most of out each player. This year will be no different, even if he needs a new quarterback, running back, top receiver and many defensive positions filled. Esteban LeWallen should be the new QB, Joe Jean-Baptiste should be a great two-way star and Nathan Johnson and Ben Wood should carry the running attack. Sunlake will battle crosstown rival Land O’ Lakes and familiar foes Mitchell and Springstead, as well as face newcomer Fivay for the Class 6A-District 6 title. And if Sunlake does take the title, the Seahawks might just make the most of a postseason berth as they did in 2011 in becoming region semifinalists.
