Pasco 46, Weeki Wachee 7

WEEKI WACHEE — Pasco looked dominant as it rolled to a convincing win against Weeki Wachee for its first Class 5A-District 6 victory.

The Pirates were able to mount a successful running performance and took advantage of a struggling Hornets defense.

Pasco running back Malik Johns ran for 193 yards on 15 carries and scored four touchdowns. The Pirates also received a strong performance from Tyler Barber, who ran for 114 yards on 24 carries.

Pasco quarterback Grant Starling threw for 65 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns.

Pasco also took advantage of a struggling Weeki Wachee offense that surrendered a safety in the third quarter.

Pasco, which had suffered district losses to South Sumter and Nature Coast, will look to build off Friday night’s win as the season progresses. The Pirates will travel to Brooksville Hernando next Friday for another district game.

“We’re still in the hunt, we just need to keep winning”, Pasco head coach Tom McHugh said.
