Middleton chooses George as new coach

Jeff George Jr., a former European Football League and college assistant coach, has been named the head football coach at Middleton High School.

George, who was an assistant coach at Blake in 2008, replaces Alonzo Ashwood, who was removed from the position after three years as head coach in November.

Middleton finished 2-8 this past season and was 4-26 overall under Ashwood.

“Mr. George came in with great enthusiasm and drive,” said Middleton athletic director Ronald Thompson.

Thompson said George also coached at Beloit College in Wisconsin and was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks Gdynia of the Polish American Football League.

“We’re excited to make him a part of Middleton,” Thompson said.
