TAMPA — Reggie Austin recorded three sacks and a fumble recovery on defense, and Otis Williams added 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground to lead visiting King past Robinson in a Class 6A-District 8 matchup.
In front of a packed homecoming crowd, Robinson started off strong offensively, moving the ball inside the King 25 on each of its first two possessions, but was unable to score on either drive.
After a scoreless first quarter in which King failed to record a first down, sophomore running back DeMario Brisbon capped a 65-yard drive to start the second quarter, scoring from 5 yards out to give King (5-2) a 7-0 lead. Williams got into the action on the next drive, finding room down the left sideline for a 53-yard TD run that gave the Lions a 14-0 advantage.
Robinson (2-5) recorded six first downs on its first two drives of the first half, but managed only one first down on its next four possessions against a King defense that was in QB Darius Autry's face all night. King had six sacks, one pick and two fumble recoveries.
Almohsi Bader converted a 35-yard field goal to give King a 17-0 lead, and Lions running back Greg Thompson plunged in from 1 yard out to round out the scoring on the night. Robinson sophomore Javaughn Johnson had two sacks and adding 30 yards rushing.
