TAMPA — After starting the season with a Kickoff Classic loss and a loss to Gaither, Chamberlain came out and handled Leto as Chiefs coach Cam Jones got his first victory as a high school football head coach.
Chamberlain got on the board first in the first quarter when senior running back Dakarai Highsmith ran the ball 5 yards for a touchdown.
However, Leto scored a touchdown of its own on the following drive when Andrew Matos scampered in for a 3-yard score.
That would be the only score for the Falcons and the Chiefs started pouring on the points.
The Chiefs relied heavily on their running game against the Falcons.
Chamberlain’s biggest play of the night came when running back Daishaun Roberts ran for a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give the Chiefs a 13-6 lead.
“Our running game doesn’t have much razzle dazzle to it but we did what we needed to do and got the job done,” Jones said.
Leading 16-6 at the intermission, Chamberlain scored 27 points in the second half to put the game away.
Next week, Chamberlain hosts Lennard in a Thursday night game, while Leto travels to Blake on the same night.
