Carrollwood Day 60, Calvary Chr. 39

TAMPA — Carrollwood Day School’s Elias Earley started the afternoon game against Calvary Christian with a 90-yard return of the opening kickoff.

From there, neither team took a breath for the next 47 minutes of play.

The Warriors and Patriots traded rabbit-punches in the first quarter as CDS took an eight-point lead into halftime.

The second half, however, saw the Patriots start to pull away as Nazir Achecer ended the Warriors’ opening third quarter drive with an interception to set up Earley’s fourth touchdown of the game as the junior tallied 136 yards rushing.

After a quick change of possession, CDS took a commanding lead when Willie Parker (118 yards rushing) scored the first of his two touchdowns to give the Patriots a 22-point lead.

Calvary (3-1) kept fighting, as Conor Regan passed for four touchdowns and rushed for another.

However, Carrollwood (2-2) couldn’t be caught, as the offense kept up its torrid pace throughout.
