Discus: Neil MacInnes, Chamberlain, Sr. -- County champion was talented in several events but was consistently outstanding in the discus with nine marks beyond 150-0. 100: Anthony Brown, Hillsborough, Sr. -- County leader at 10.50 saw his promising senior season cut short just days before the state finals with hamstring injury at regionals. 200: Eric Moate, Spoto, Jr. -- County champion in the 100 and 200 had his season abruptly end with hamstring strain at regionals. 1,600: Brandon Duncan, Armwood, Sr. -- Reached a new level this season with personal best of 4:23.35 en route to district victory and second place at regionals. 3,200: Max del Monte, Chamberlain, Sr. -- Earned his first state title by capturing gold medal at the Class 3A championships in 9:25.11. 110 hurdles: Samson Moore, Gaither, Fr. -- Stunning high school debut, producing silver medal at Class 3A state meet in 14.29. 300 hurdles: Paul Barrett, Gaither, Sr. -- County, district, region and Class 4A state champion, where he posted best of 37.29. 400: DeAndre James, Blake, Jr. -- Burst on to local scene with county-leading 48.68 and went on to capture county and district titles. 800: Jonathan Moore, Jefferson, Jr. -- Reached the elite level in state with his county-leading time of 1:54.53. Made the medals podium at Class 3A state meet with third-place finish. 4x100: Armwood (Kaylaun Edwards, Fr., Wade Edwards, Sr., Leon McQuay III, Jr., Alvin Bailey, Jr.) -- Hawks foursome among state leaders all season, produced silver medal and county record of 41.15 at Class 3A state finals. 4x400: Jefferson (Joshua Wyche, Sr., Jawaun Coffee, Sr., David White, Sr., Jonathan Moore, Jr.) -- Dragons won county and district crowns, then earned sixth-place medal at Class 3A state meet in county-best performance of 3:20.04. 4x800: Steinbrenner (Tyler Lima, Jr., Zach Lima, Jr., Tanner Biles, Jr., Matt Magee, Jr.) -- Warriors produced county, district and regional titles, then ran county-leading time of 7:57.82 for fourth-place medal at Class 3A state meet.
