Ridgewood (9-2) used its inside game and their smothering defense to defeat Bloomingdale, 59-44, at the William G. Hulton Jr. Ram Classic. The defensive effort was one of the best of the season turned in by the Rams. Ridgewood held the Bulls (5-5) to under 35 percent shooting from the field and blocked eight shots.
Ridgewood big men Mike Wood and Scott Kujak were steady with 10 and 11 points, respectively. But it was the play of the guards Marcus Green and Brandon Harrison that was really instrumental Wednesday. Each scored 13 points to lead the Rams, and head coach Mike Bua was specifically impressed with Harrison, who was making his first start of the season.
"I can't say enough about Brandon. He's been a role player all year, but tonight he started and he was really big for us." said Bua. "He hit some big outside shots for us, and that was huge."
The Rams face speedy Jenkins tonight in the final round of the shootout at 7:00 pm at Ridgewood.
