SEFFNER — Armwood’s starters played the entire first half as the Hawks rolled past Leto.
The Hawks (6-0) didn’t punt all night and had a 46-point first-quarter lead before a running clock was instituted by mutual consent. Leto is now 0-7.
“We play the teams on our schedule,” Armwood coach Sean Callahan said. “We don’t line up and play Hillsborough and Jefferson every week. We had a great week of practice and played well. I think our message was heard. Leto’s athletic director complimented us after the game for playing respectfully and that means a lot to me. I’m not in the business of embarrassing 15- or 16-year old boys.”
Seven Hawks scored offensive touchdowns, in addition to a score each on special teams and defense.
Armwood quarterback Noah Johnson was 6-for-9 for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown. His replacement, Tyler Scott, didn’t attempt a pass, but ran for a 43-yard score.
