PETERSBURG - Jefferson (6-1, 4-0) accomplished all four of Coach Mike Fenton's goals in its Class 3A-District 8 championship-clinching rout against Dixie Hollins (0-8, 0-4). "I wanted a special teams score. I wanted 400-plus yards of offense, 55 percent big-play chances on defense and a running clock," Fenton said. The Dragons had not won their district since 2004.Jefferson's offense posted 461 yards and 12 first downs, while their defense only surrendered 80 yards and four first downs. QB Quentin Williams accounted for the bulk of the Dragons' offensive night, going 14-of-18 for 282 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored on one of the game's biggest plays, a 57-yard run in the first quarter. On Jefferson's next possession, Rashaad Dunnigan got the special teams score for his coach with a 68-yard punt return for TD. Wide receiver Christopher Moore and running back LaDarius Moye each contributed a pair of TDs. "We are starting to peak, and that is a good sign. You want to start peaking going to the playoffs. I still don't feel that we have played our best game yet, but we've been getting better," Fenton said.
