Ottawa claims G McElhinney off waivers from Bolts

TAMPA - The Ottawa Senators claimed Curtis McElhinney off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning today, only days after the goaltender was acquired in a trade with Anahem Ducks. Senators general manager Bryan Murray the move on the team's website. McElhinney came to Tampa Bay from Anaheim on Feb. 24 in a straight-up deal for goaltender Dan Ellis. However, the Lightning recalled goaltender Mike Smith on re-entry waivers from Norfolk of the AHL last week to back up starter Dwayne Roloson. McElhinney was placed on waivers Saturday.
A Calgary native, McElhinney began the 2010-11 season with Anaheim, where he recorded six wins and two shutouts. Ottawa also acquired goaltender Craig Anderson in a trade from Colorado last week.
