Golf wives show drive in helping others

Professional golfers and women from the PGA Tour Wives Association took a break on Wednesday to pitch in on the painting of a Habitat for Humanity home under construction at 1884 N. Betty Lane, Clearwater.

The golfers are in the area this week for the Valspar Championship PGA match at Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club, 36750 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor. The four-day tournament begins today. Valspar, sponsor of the PGA tour event, provides all the paint for all Habitat homes built in the United States.

Golfers Robert Garrigus, Geoff Ogilvy and Bo Van Pelt participated.

Habitat builds homes for people in need. The new homeowners work alongside volunteers and professionals and must invest 250-350 hours of “sweat equity” building their own homes and those of other Habitat families. Habitat Pinellas has built 293 homes in the county since 1985.
