Bucs Quarterly Report: Reasons to believe

With the Bucs 2-2 through the first quarter of their season, we asked the Tampa Bay Times' coverage team for the biggest reasons to believe in Tampa Bay so far. Their responses:

Greg Auman: The offense has yet to really click, the defense has been shorthanded and they're still 2-2. Get either side at full potential and this should be a good team; get both going and they can be great.

Thomas Bassinger: Despite the missed field goals and opportunities Thursday night, the Bucs still came 19 yards away from upsetting the defending Super Bowl champions.

Martin Fennelly: Awful kicking, little or no pass rush through the first three games and yet they're 2-2.

Ernest Hooper: The potential of Doug Martin to return to his 2015 form could be the difference between average and above average.

Tom Jones: That coach Dirk Koetter can work around Winston's issues and scheme winning game plans.

Rick Stroud: Jameis Winston. Jameis Winston. Jameis Winston. If he's a franchise QB, he will elevate his play and win enough games in his third year to get the Bucs back in the playoffs this year.
