USF Bulls using bye week to evaluate program
TAMPA - South Florida coach Skip Holtz said the Bulls' open date comes at a good time. The Bulls are 2-4 (0-2 Big East) and looking at missing a bowl game for a second straight season. "I don't think anyone wants to go into an open date on a four-game losing streak,'' Holtz said on Monday's Big East conference call. "But just to have the opportunity to catch our breath, sometimes you need something to get out of it. Hopefully, this open date will be that breath we need to take.'' Holtz said everything is up for evaluation — from game plans to personnel."We didn't come here to come close, we came here to win,'' Holtz said. "Right now, we haven't gotten it done. I can't argue that point.'' At the midpoint of his third USF season, Holtz is 15-16 overall and 4-12 in Big East games. The Bulls have lost 10 of their past 11 Big East games heading into an Oct. 20 contest at No. 18-ranked Louisville (5-0). GAME TIME SET: The USF-Louisville game will be played at 3:30 p.m. and televised by WFTS, Channel 28.
