Gators announce hiring of Choate to coach special teams
GAINESVILLE - The Florida Gators officially announced the hiring of Jeff Choate as special teams coordinator. He will also coach outside linebackers. Choate was hired after the 2012 season from Washington State to be the defensive coordinator at Texas-El Paso, but he left that position to take the Gators’ job. He spent six years as the special teams coordinator at Boise State, where he worked alongside current UF offensive coordinator Brent Pease. Choate coached linebackers at Washington State last season under Mike Leach.While at Boise State he led the 2009 special teams unit that was ranked No. 1 in the nation by Phil Steele.
