Florida Gators add Rutgers basketball transfer
The Florida Gators men’s basketball team added its sixth transfer in five years on Tuesday when Rutgers guard Eli Carter, who scored 31 points in a double-overtime win against Florida in his freshman season in 2011-12, said on his Twitter account that he is moving on. “Proud to announce that I will be continuing my career at the University of Florida,” he announced on Twitter. Carter, who averaged 14.9 points this past season as a sophomore, could be eligible right away. He’s expected to seek a waiver rather than sit out a season because Rutgers coach Mike Rice was fired on April 3 amid allegations that he abused players.
