No. 9 Auburn Defeats Miami For 14th Straight Win
CORAL GABLES - DeWanna Bonner had 18 points and eight rebounds, Alli Smalley scored 16 points and No. 9 Auburn won its 14th straight with a 68-53 win over Miami on Tuesday night. Whitney Boddie added nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists for Auburn (14-0) in the championship game and was named MVP of the UM Holiday Tournament. Shenise Johnson led the Hurricanes (9-4) with 21 points. Auburn trailed at the half, 32-30, for only the second time this season. The last time the Tigers were down at halftime was against Liberty on December 7.Smalley had three consecutive 3-pointers at the beginning of the second half and finished 4-of-6 from behind the arc. The Tigers have put together their best start since the 1988-89 season when the team went 29-2 and reached the Final Four.
