Selmon to be first Buccaneer in Ring of Honor
TAMPA - As expected, Hall of Fame defensive end Lee Roy Selmon will be the first member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor. The Bucs will honor the first draft pick in franchise history during a home game against the Packers Nov. 8, when Tampa Bay will wear its throwback 1976 orange jerseys. Selmon, who owns several local restaurants, will attend a news conference Monday afternoon at the team facility to formally announce the Nov. 8 induction ceremony. In his nine-year career (1976-84), the former Oklahoma standout finished with a franchise-record 78.5 sacks and earned NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 1979. Selmon was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995 and his No. 63 jersey remains the only uniform retired by the Buccaneers.
