Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said he remained in Boston on Sunday evening while the team returned to Tampa due to his father's illness.
Barry Schiano, a frequent observer at Bucs practices, attended the matchup against the New England Patriots at Foxborough, Mass.
“During the game, my dad became ill and I felt it was necessary to stay back with him until some other family members could get up to Boston,'' Greg Schiano said Monday. ”I traveled in the middle of the night last night to get back and take care of business here. He's still in Boston and they're doing tests.”
Members of Schiano's family often travel with him to games.
The Bucs dropped to 0-3 after the 23-3 loss to the Patriots.
